Moving with my family to "cozy" Pine Island in 1978 at the age of 6, I immediately fell in love with the beauty of the islands and surrounding waters. As a teen I took great pleasure in teaching friends how to catch Tarpon, Redfish and Snook on light tackle using artificial lures. By 1998 Fly Fishing had become my new love and I was fortunate enough to take my first paid Fly Fishing trip. The angler was the owner of "The Fly Fisher" shop, one of the largest Fly shops in Denver, CO at the time. He had fished all over the world and caught nearly every species on fly except a tailing Redfish. We changed that on a cold drizzly December day, he caught his first Tailing Redfish Fly Fishing in Pine Island Sound. I was using a borrowed 13ft. jonboat. That day spawned a career as a Fly Fishing Guide that began in 2003 with a business built heavily on repeat clientele. Snooktown Charters has been featured in several Fly Fishing Magazines as well as on national aired television fishing programs. In 2014, along with my dear friend and fishing buddy Scott Swartz we founded Pine Island's first Fly Fishing social club, The Pine Island Fly Fishers. I make my home on the quaint island of Matlacha guiding there as well as out of the private Usppea Island Club. Many of the anglers I've been fortunate to guide along the way have become like family to me, far beyond the "guide / client" relationship. I look forward to continuing to build new relationships over the coming years sharing my knowledge as I learn.
